Potts(1905-1910) 6016

6016. And they took their cattle. That this signifies the goods of truth, is evident from the signification of "cattle," as being the good of truth; for by "cattle" are meant both flocks and herds, and also horses, camels, mules, and asses. And as "flocks" in the internal sense are interior goods, and "herds" exterior goods, but "horses," "camels," "mules," and "asses" such things as are of the intellectual, all of which bear relation to truths, therefore by "cattle" is signified the good of truth.

Elliott(1983-1999) 6016

6016. 'And took their livestock' means forms of the good of truth. This is clear from the meaning of 'livestock' as the good of truth. For 'livestock' is used to mean both flocks and herds, and also horses, camels, mules, and asses; and since 'flocks' in the internal sense are interior forms of good and 'herds' exterior ones, while 'horses, camels, mules, and asses are powers of the understanding, all of which are associated with truths, 'livestock' means the good of truth.

Latin(1748-1756) 6016

@1 asini, cameli$
