[NCE]1160. Genesis 10:6. And the sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, and Put, and Canaan.
Ham, here as earlier, symbolizes faith detached from charity. The sons of Ham symbolize characteristics of a detached faith. Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan were individual nations, and on an inner level they symbolize the concepts, facts, and varieties of worship connected with a faith detached from charity.

Potts(1905-1910) 1160

1160. Verse 6. And the sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, and Put, and Canaan. By "Ham" is signified, here as before, faith separated from charity; by "the sons of Ham," the things that belong to this separated faith; "Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan" were so many nations, by which are signified, in the internal sense, the knowledges, the memory-knowledges, and the worships that are of faith separated from charity.

Elliott(1983-1999) 1160

1160. Verse 6 And the sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, and Put, and Canaan.

Here, as previously, 'Ham' means faith separated from charity. 'The sons of Ham' means things that belong to separated faith. 'Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan' were just so many nations who in the internal sense mean cognitions, knowledge, and the forms of worship which belong to faith separated from charity.

Latin(1748-1756) 1160

1160. Vers. 6.
