118、创世记2:14.第三道河名叫希底结;就是向东流向亚述的;第四道河就是伯拉大河。
“希底结”是指理性,或理性的清晰敏锐;“亚述”是指理性心智;“向东流向亚述的河”表示理性的清晰敏锐从主经由内在人进入属于外在人的理性心智;“伯拉大河”,或幼发拉底河,是指记忆知识,也就是末端或边界。

[NCE]118. Genesis 2:14. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel; it goes toward the east, to Assyria. And the fourth river, it is the Phrath.
The river Hiddekel is the ability to reason — that is, the clear-sightedness of reason. Assyria is the mind that does the reasoning. The fact that the river goes east to Assyria means that this ability comes from the Lord through the inner self to the part of the mind that reasons, which is located in the outer self.
The Phrath, or Euphrates, is factual knowledge, which is the final boundary of the mind.

118. Verse 14. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel; that is it which goeth eastward toward Asshur; and the fourth river it is Phrath. The "river Hiddekel" is reason, or the clearsightedness of reason. "Asshur" is the rational mind; the "river which goeth eastward toward Asshur" signifies that the clearsightedness of reason comes from the Lord through the internal man into the rational mind, which is of the external man; "Phrath" or Euphrates, is memory-knowledge [scientia], which is the ultimate or boundary.

'The river Hiddekel' is reason or the sharp-sightedness of reason. 'Asshur' is the rational mind. The river's 'going eastwards towards Asshur' means that the sharp-sightedness of reason comes from the Lord by way of the internal man into the rational mind, which belongs to the external man. 'The Phrath' or the Euphrates is knowledge, which is the extremity or boundary.
