On that day Jehovah struck a pact with Abram symbolizes the union of the Lord's intermediate self with his inner self, or Jehovah. Saying, "To your seed will I give this land," symbolizes the consolation, after all these trials and horrors, that the people who possessed charity and faith in him would become his heirs. "From the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Phrath," symbolizes the extent of spiritual and heavenly qualities; to the river of Egypt is the extent of spiritual qualities; to the river Phrath is the extent of heavenly qualities.
