'And he was afraid' means a holy change. 'And said, How awesome is this place' means the holiness of the state. 'This is nothing other than the house of God' means the Lord's kingdom as it exists in the ultimate degree of order. 'And this is the gate of heaven' means that which serves as the ultimate degree of order, through which there is, so to speak, a way in from the natural creation.
