Potts(1905-1910) 4350

4350. And Esau ran to meet him. That this signifies the influx of Divine good natural, is evident from the signification of "running to meet," as being influx; and from the representation of Esau, as being Divine good natural (see n. 4337, 4340). That "to run to meet" here denotes influx, is because Divine good flows in through the internal man, and comes to meet the truth which is being instilled through the external man, in order that they may be conjoined. The same is also manifest from what follows; for it follows that he embraced him, fell upon his neck, and kissed him; by which as will be seen is signified conjunction by love.

Elliott(1983-1999) 4350

4350. 'Esau ran to meet him' means the influx of Divine Natural Good. This is clear from the meaning of 'running to meet' as influx, and from the representation of 'Esau' as Divine Natural Good, dealt with in 4337, 4340. The reason why 'running to meet' means influx in this case is that Divine Good flows in by way of the internal man and goes to meet truth introduced through the external man, so that the two may be joined together. This is also evident from what follows, for the description which follows concerning his embracing him, falling on his neck, and kissing him, will be seen to mean a joining together effected through love.

Latin(1748-1756) 4350

4350. `Cucurrit Esau obviam ei': quod significet influxum Divini Boni naturalis, constat ex significatione `currere obviam' quod sit influxus; et ex repraesentatione `Esavi' quod sit Divinum Bonum naturale, de qua n. 4337, 4340; quod `currere obviam' hic sit influxus, est quia Divinum Bonum per internum hominem influit et obviam' venit vero quod per externum insinuatur, ut conjungantur;
