Apocalypse Explained (Tansley translation 1923) 947

947. Verses 5, 6. And after these things I saw, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened; and the seven angels went out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in linen pure and glistening white, and girt about the breasts with golden girdles.

"And after these things I saw, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened," signifies interior Divine truth in the Word, revealed from the Lord.

"And the seven angels went out of the temple, having the seven plagues," signifies manifestation thence of all evils and the falsities therefrom, and of all falsities and the evils therefrom, which have devastated the church: "clothed in linen pure and glistening white," signifies, by Divine truth, or the Word in the spiritual sense; "and girt about the breasts with golden girdles," signifies spiritual Divine good, containing truths in order and connection.

947. Verses 5, 6. And after these things I saw, and behold the temple of the tabernacle of the Testimony in heaven was opened; and there came out of the temple seven angels, that had the seven plagues, clothed in linen clean and bright, and girded about the breasts with golden girdles.

5. "And after these things I saw, and behold the temple of the tabernacle of the Testimony in heaven was opened," signifies interior Divine truth in the Word, revealed by the Lord. n. 948).

6. "And there came out of the temple seven angels that had the seven plagues," signifies consequent manifestation of all evils and the falsities therefrom, and of all falsities and the evils therefrom, that have devastated the church n. 949; "clothed in linen clean and bright," signifies by means of the Divine truth, or the Word in the spiritual sense (n. 950, 951); "and girded about the breasts with golden girdles," signifies Divine spiritual good holding truths in order and connection n. 952.

947. VERSUS 5, 6.

"Et post haec vidi, et ecce apertum est templum tabernaculi testimonii in caelo. Et exiverunt septem angeli habentes septem plagas e templo, induti lino mundo et splendido, et circumcincti circa pectora zonis aureis."

5. "Et post haec vidi, et ecce apertum est templum tabernaculi testimonii in caelo", significat a Domino Divinum Verum in Verbo interius revelatum [n. 948] .

6. "Et exiverunt septem angeli habentes septem plagas, e templo", significat inde manifestata omnia mala et inde falsa, ac falsa et inde mala, quae devastaverunt ecclesiam [n. 949] ; "induti lino mundo et splendido", significat per Divinum Verum seu Verbum in sensu spirituali [n. 950, 951] ; "et circumcincti circa pectora zonis aureis", significat Divinum Bonum spirituale continens vera in ordine et in nexu [n. 952] .
