248. "Who was and is and is to come!" This symbolizes the Lord.
That it means the Lord is clearly apparent in chapter one, verses 4, 8, 11, 17, where the subject is the Son of Man, who is the Lord in relation to the Word. It openly says there that He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. Moreover, in nos. 13, 29, 30, 31, 38, and 57 we explained the symbolic meanings of these attributions. Here now "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!" means the Lord.
248. 'Who was and Who is and Who is to come' signifies the Lord. That it is the Lord is quite plain in the First Chapter, verses 4, 8, 11, 17, where it treats of the Son of Man, Who is the Lord as to the Word; and there it says openly that HE IS ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE ENDING THE FIRST AND THE LAST, WHO IS, AND WHO WAS, AND WHO IS TO COME, AND THE ALMIGHTY. But what is signified by those words has been expounded (13, 29-31, 38, 57). Here now [is expounded] that the Lord is understood by 'Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and Who is and Who is to come.
248. Who was, and who is, and who is to come, signifies the Lord. That it is the Lord is plain from chapter 1:4, 8, 11, 17, where it treats of the Son of man who is the Lord as to the Word, and there it is expressly said that:
He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty, (Revelation 1:8).
But what is signified by these words, is explained, (13, 29-31, 38, 57); here that the Lord is meant by "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, and who is, and who is to come."

"Qui Fuit et Qui Est et Qui Venturus" significat Dominum. - Quod sit Dominus, patet manifeste in capite primo (vers. 4, 8, 11, 17), ubi agitur de Filio Hominis, Qui est Dominus quoad Verbum; et ibi aperte dicitur, quod Ille sit "Alpha et Omega, Principium et Finis, Primus et Ultimus, Qui Est et Qui Fuit et Qui Venturus, et Omnipotens;"
