  在神面前,阴间显露、灭亡也不得遮掩(约伯记26:6);

Apocalypse Revealed (Rogers translation 2007) 440

440. And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but who in Greek has the name Apollyon. (9:11) This symbolically means that those caught up in falsities springing from lusts, who by a total falsification of the Word destroyed the church, are in a satanic hell.

The angel of the bottomless pit as king does not signify that some angel is king there, but that falsity reigns in it. For a king in its genuine sense symbolizes someone who possesses truths owing to an affection for goodness, and abstractly truth itself (no. 20); and in an opposite sense, therefore, a king symbolizes someone who is caught up in falsities owing to a lust for evil, and abstractly falsity itself. The bottomless pit symbolizes the satanic hell where such people reside (nos. 387, 421). A name symbolizes the character of someone's or something's state (nos. 81, 122, 165).

Abaddon in Hebrew is someone who destroys, or a destroyer, and likewise Apollyon in Greek, and this is falsity of the most fundamental sort, which by a total falsification of the Word has destroyed the church.

Abaddon in the Hebrew text means destruction in the following places:

Your truth in destruction? (Psalms 88:11)

Hell is naked before Him, and destruction has no covering. (Job 26:6)

For it will be a fire that consumes to destruction... (Job 31:12)

Destruction and death say... (Job 28:22)

Elsewhere hell and the devil are called destruction or a destroyer (Isaiah 54:16, Ezekiel 5:16; 9:1, Exodus 12:13), but by using another term.

Apocalypse Revealed (Coulson translation 1970) 440

440. [verse 11] 'And they had over them a king, the angel of the deep, whose Hebrew name is Abaddon, and in Greek he has the name Apollyon' signifies that they are in the satanic hell who are in untruths derived from lusts, and they have destroyed the Church by the total falsification of the Word. By 'a king, the angel of the deep' is not signified any angel king there, but the untruth reigning there; for by a 'king' in the genuine sense is signified one who is in truths derived from an affection of good, and abstractly that truth itself (20), and consequently in the opposite sense by a 'king' is signified one who is in untruths derived from a lust of evil, and abstractly that untruth itself. By 'the deep' is signified the satanic hell where those are (387, 421); by 'name' is signified the quality of the state (81, 122, 165). 'Abaddon' in the Hebrew language is 'destroying' and 'destroyer,' in like manner as 'Apollyon' in the Greek language, and this is the untruth in the outermost things that has destroyed the Church by the total falsification of the Word. By 'Abaddon' in the Hebrew text is signified destruction in these places:

Thy truth (veritas) in destruction. Psalms 88:11 H.B. 12].

Hell is naked before him, and destruction has no covering, Job 26:6.

For the fire will devour to destruction, Job 31:12.

Destruction and death say, Job 28:22.

Moreover hell and the devil are called 'destruction' and 'destroyer' (Isaiah 54:16; Ezekiel 5:16; 9:1; Exodus 12:13), but with another word.

Apocalypse Revealed (Whitehead translation 1928) 440

440. Verse 11. And they had a king over them, the angel of the abyss; whose name in the Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he hath the name Apollyon, signifies that they are in the satanic hell who are in falsities from lusts, and, by the total falsification of the Word, have destroyed the church. By "the king, the angel of the abyss," is not signified any angel who is a king there, but the falsity reigning therein; for by "a king," in the genuine sense, is signified one who is in truths from the affection of good, and, abstractly, that truth itself, (20); and thence, in the opposite sense, by "a king" is signified one who is in falsities from the lusts of evil, and, abstractly, that falsity itself. By the "abyss" is signified the satanic hell, where they are, (387, 421); by "name" is signified the quality of the state, (81, 122, 165); "Abaddon," in the Hebrew tongue, is he that destroys and a destroyer; so "Apollyon," in the Greek tongue; and this is falsity in outermost things, which, by the total falsification of the Word, has destroyed the church. By "Abaddon," in the Hebrew text, is signified destruction, in these places:

Thy truth in destruction, (Psalms 88:11).

Hell is naked before Him, and destruction hath no covering, (Job 26:6).

For a fire consumeth even to destruction, (Job 31:12).

Destruction and Death say, (Job 28:22).

In other places, hell and the devil are called "destruction" and "destroyer" (Isaiah 54:16; Ezekiel 5:16; 9:1; Exodus 12:13); but by another word.

Apocalypsis Revelata 440 (original Latin 1766)

440. (Vers. 11.) Per "Abaddon" in textu Hebraeo significatur Perditio in his locis:

"Veritas Tua in Perditione," (Psalm 88:12 (B.A. 11));

"Nudum Infernum coram illo, et non operimentum Perditioni," (Hiob 26:6);

"Nam 2ignis usque ad Perditionem devorabit," (Hiob 31:12);

"Perditio et mors dicunt," (Hiob 28:22). 3

Alioquin vocatur Infernum et Diabolus "Perditio" et "Perditor," (Esaias 54:16; Ezechiel 5:16; 9:1; Exodus 12:13),

sed alia voce.
