495. And if anyone wants to do them injury, he must be killed in that way. This symbolically means that anyone who condemns the two essential elements is likewise condemned.
To do injury here means, symbolically, to condemn, because it is followed by the statement that the person must be killed, and in the Word to be killed means, symbolically, to be killed spiritually, which is to be condemned. For the Lord says, "With what judgment you judge, you will be judged." (Matthew 7:1-2)
495. 'And if any one wishes to do them an injury, he must in this manner be killed' signifies that he who condemns them shall likewise be condemned. By 'to do an injury' here is signified to condemn, because it follows 'he must in this manner be killed,' and by 'to kill' in the Word is signified to kill spiritually, which is to be condemned; for the Lord said, 'With what judgment you judge, you shall be judged' (Matthew 7:1-2).
495. And if anyone will hurt them, thus must he be killed, signifies that he who condemns them shall in like manner be condemned. By "hurt them" here signifies to condemn, because it follows, "thus must he be killed," and by "being killed," in the Word, is signified to be killed spiritually, which is to be condemned; for the Lord says:
With what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged, (Matthew 7:1-2).
"Quo judicio judicatis, judicabimini," (Matthaeus 7:1(, 2)).
