Apocalypse Revealed (Rogers translation 2007) 55

55. But He laid His right hand on me. This symbolizes life then infused from the Lord.

The Lord laid His right hand on him because a communication is effected through the touch of the hands. That is because the life of the mind and so of the body projects itself into the arms and through them into the hands. It is on this account that the Lord touched with His hand the people He brought back to life and healed (Mark 1:31, 41; 7:32-33; 8:22-26; 10:13, 16).

The fundamental reason for this is that the Lord's presence in a person is an adjunction, thus a conjunction by contiguity, and this contiguity becomes closer and fuller in the measure that the person loves the Lord, which is to say, as he keeps His commandments.

From these few observations it can be seen that the Lord's laying His right hand on John means, symbolically, that He infused His life into him.

Apocalypse Revealed (Coulson translation 1970) 55

55. 'And He put His right hand upon me' signifies life then inspired by Him. The Lord put His right hand upon him because a communication is effected by the touch of hands. The cause of this is that the life of the mind and consequently of the body puts itself forth into the arms and through them into the hands. It is in consequence of this that the Lord with His hand touched those whom He revived into life, and healed (Mark 1:31, 41; 7:32-33; 8:22-26; 10:13, 16; Luke 5:12-13; 7:14; 18:15; 22:51); and that in like manner He touched the disciples, after they saw Jesus transformed, and fell on their face (Matthew 17:6-7). The origin itself [of this] is because the presence of the Lord with men is an adjunction, thus a conjunction by means of what is contiguous, and this contiguity becomes nearer and fuller in the proportion that a man loves the Lord, that is, does His precepts. From these few considerations it can be established that by putting His right hand upon him is signified inspiring His own life in him.

Apocalypse Revealed (Whitehead translation 1928) 55

55. And He laid His right hand upon me, signifies life then inspired from Him. The reason why the Lord "laid His right hand upon him," is, because communication is effected by the touch of the hands. The reason is that the life of the mind, and thence of the body, puts itself forth into the arms, and through them into the hands. On this account:

The Lord touched with His hands those whom He restored to life and healed, (Mark 1:31, 41; 7:32-33; 8:22-26; 10:13, 16; Luke 5:12-13; 7:14; 18:15; 22:51).

And in like manner:

After His disciples saw Jesus transfigured, and they fell on the face, (Matthew 17:6-7).

The origin of this is, because the presence of the Lord with man is adjunction, and thus conjunction by contiguity; and this contiguity is near and fuller in proportion as man loves the Lord, that is, does His commandments. From these few things it may appear, that by "laying His right hand upon him," is signified inspiring him with His life.

Ex eo est quod Dominus illos quos in vitam resuscitavit et sanavit, manu tetigerit Marcus 1:31, 41; 7:32-33; 8:22-26; 210:13, 16; Luca 5:12-13; 7:14; 18:15; 22:51);
