852. 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who shares in the first resurrection. This symbolically means that through conjunction with the Lord those who enter heaven enjoy the felicity of eternal life and enlightenment.
That person is called blessed who has the felicity of eternal life (no. 639). And that person is called holy (or a saint) who has enlightenment in Divine truths through conjunction with the Lord. For the Lord alone is holy, and the Divinity emanating from Him which produces enlightenment is what is called the Holy Spirit (nos. 173, 586, 666). The first resurrection symbolizes the Lord's raising a person into heaven and thus salvation, as in no. 851 above.
It is apparent from this that "blessed and holy is he who shares in the first resurrection" symbolically means that through conjunction with the Lord, those who enter heaven enjoy the felicity of eternal life and enlightenment.
852. [verse 6] 'Blessed and holy is he having part in the first resurrection' signifies that those who come into heaven have the happiness of eternal life and enlightenment through conjunction with the Lord. He is termed 'blessed' who has the happiness of eternal life (639); and he is termed 'holy' who has enlightenment in Divine truths through conjunction with the Lord, for Only the Lord is Holy; and the Divine proceeding from Himself, by which there is enlightenment, is what is called the Holy Spirit (173, 586, 666). By 'the first resurrection' is signified elevation into heaven by the Lord, and thus salvation, as just above (851). Consequently it is plain that by 'blessed and holy is he having part in the first resurrection' is signified that those who come into heaven have the happiness of eternal life and enlightenment through conjunction with the Lord.
852. Verse 6. Happy and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection, signifies that they who come into heaven, have the felicity of life eternal, and enlightenment by conjunction with the Lord. He is called "happy" who has the felicity of life eternal, (639); and he is called "holy" who has enlightenment in Divine truths by conjunction with the Lord, for the Lord alone is holy; and the Divine proceeding from Him, from which there is enlightenment, is what is called the Holy Spirit, (173, 586, 666). By "the first resurrection" is signified elevation into heaven by the Lord, and thus salvation, as above, (851). Hence it is evident, that by "Happy and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection" is signified that they who come into heaven have the felicity of life eternal, and enlightenment by conjunction with the Lord.
852. (Vers. 6.)
