Divine Love and Wisdom #206 (Dole (2003))

206. Since the highest thing in sequential arrangement is the central thing in simultaneous arrangement and the lowest is the outermost, "higher" in the Word means more internal and "lower" means more external. The same holds for "upward" and "downward" and for "high" and "low."

Divine Love and Wisdom #206 (Rogers (1999))

206. Since the highest element in sequential order becomes the inmost in concurrent order, and the lowest becomes the outmost, therefore something higher in the Word symbolizes something more interior, and something lower symbolizes something more exterior. An upward direction and a downward direction have the same symbolism, and so, too, do height and depth.

Divine Love and Wisdom #206 (Harley and Harley (1969))

206. Since the highest of successive order becomes the inmost of simultaneous order, and the lowest becomes the outermost, so in the Word, by higher is signified inner, and by lower is signified outer. Similarly by upwards and downwards, also by high and deep.

Divine Love and Wisdom #206 (Ager (1890))

206. As the highest of successive order becomes the innermost of simultaneous order, and the lowest becomes the outermost, so in the Word, "higher" signifies inner, and "lower" signifies outer. "Upwards" and "downwards," and "high" and "deep" have a like meaning.

De Divino Amore et de Divina Sapientia #206 (original Latin,1763)

206. Quoniam supremum Ordinis successivi fit intimum Ordinis simultanei, ac infimum fit extimum, ideo in Verbo per superius significatur interius, et per inferius significatur exterius; simile per sursum et deorsum, tum per altum et profundum.
