  306、从此处所给出的关于天堂和地狱的观念可以看出人的心智是何性质,因为如前所述(296,299节),人的心智或灵要么是一个最小形式的天堂,要么是一个最小形式的地狱;也就是说,它的内层仅仅是情感和由此而来的思维,被划分为属和种,正如天堂被划分为大大小小的社群,并被如此结合以至于行如一体;主按着掌管天堂和地狱的方式来掌管情感和思维。人要么是一个最小形式的天堂,要么是一个最小形式的地狱,这一点可见于1758年于伦敦出版的《天堂与地狱》一书(51-87节)

306. From the idea of heaven and hell just presented, the nature of the human mind can be seen, for as we said, a person's mind or spirit is in miniature form either a heaven or a hell. One can see namely that a person's interior constituents are simply affections and the accompanying thoughts, differentiated into classes and types as though into larger and smaller associations and so conjoined as to act in concert. Moreover, one can see that the Lord governs those affections and thoughts in the same way that He governs heaven or hell.

(The fact that a person is in miniature form either a heaven or a hell may be seen in the book Heaven and Hell, published in 1758 in London, (Heaven and Hell 51-102.)

306. Given this picture of heaven and hell, the nature of the human mind is clear. As already stated [296, 299], our mind or spirit is either a miniature heaven or a miniature hell. Its contents are simply desires and the thoughts that they prompt, differentiated into genera and species the way heaven is differentiated into larger and smaller communities and united so that they act as a unity. The Lord oversees our desires and thoughts in the same way that he oversees heaven and hell.

306. From the idea of heaven now given it may be evident what is the nature of the mind of man; for, as has been said, man's mind or spirit is either a heaven or a hell in its least form, that is, his interiors are nothing but affections and thoughts arising from these, distinguished into genera and species as into greater and lesser societies, and so connected as to act as one; and that the Lord governs them as He governs heaven or hell. That a man is either a heaven or a hell in its least form may be seen in the work HEAVEN AND HELL, published in London in the year 1758 (n. 51-87).

306.
