1828. So there are three levels of life with the human being, as there are three levels of life in the heavens. For better understanding, these may be distinguished into inward life, belonging to the earthly mind, very inward life, belonging to the mind devoted to understanding, and innermost life, interacting with the innermost or third heaven.

There are, therefore, three degrees of life within man, as there are three degrees of life in heaven, which, for the better understanding, may be distinguished into interior, or what is of the natural mind; more interior [intimior], or what is of the intellectual mind; and inmost, or what corresponds to the inmost or third heaven.
1828. Quare sunt tres gradus vitae intra hominem, sicut sunt tres gradus vitae in coelis, quae ut distinguantur ad captum, vita distinguatur in interiorem, quae est mentis naturalis, in intimiorem, quae est mentis intellectualis, et in intimam, quae correspondet intimo seu tertio coelo.
