2076. In the meantime, he supposed as do all wicked spirits, that they can do absolutely everything, and he even admitted having thought this. When it was pointed out to him that he was but one among myriads of myriads who are controlled by the Lord, and that he could therefore do nothing whatever, he began to think about it and feel sorry.

Meanwhile he was supposing that as regards all wicked spirits, they by themselves could effect any and everything, which he also admitted that he had supposed; and when it was pointed out to him that he is one among myriads of myriads who are ruled by the Lord, and that therefore he could never effect anything, he began to think so and to repent.
2076. Interea putabat is, ut omnes spiritus maligni, quod soli possint omnia et singula, quod etiam fassus se 1
