2195. Nor does the Lord break anyone during temptations, even severe ones. For in temptations, as they become more intense, He mercifully gives them the power to resist in many different ways, so that they are not broken in temptations. To whatever degree they are tempted, to the same degree they are bent, so it makes no difference whether the degree is greater or lesser when the sustaining powers are increased in a like degree. 1748, 5 June.
