Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 2803

2803. On the change of human character during life in the body

Human beings after life in the body retain all their own nature, or the earthly character they had acquired for themselves during bodily life. This is the truth. And after the life of the body, it is not changed, but supplemental qualities are given by the Lord that make it possible for them to be in a better society, and thus among the heavenly.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 2803

2803. CONCERNING THE CHANGE OF HUMAN DISPOSITION IN THE LIFE OF THE BODY.

That man after the life of the body retains all his nature, or natural disposition, which he has acquired to himself in the life of the body, this is the truth, and after the life of the body that it is not changed, but that those things are superadded by the Lord which cause him to be able to be in a better society and thus among the celestials.
