4130. About evil spirits
I have observed from time to time that evil spirits constantly and for years, with the greatest cunning and malice, with deceptions, threats and innumerable intrigues, have labored to destroy these things [revealed] concerning the inward sense of the Word, which machinations I cannot describe in detail, because they have lasted for years.
4130. CONCERNING EVIL SPIRITS.
That evil spirits did continually and for a long course of years, by cunning and malice, by deceits, threats, and innumerable machinations, labor to destroy the interior things of the Word, which machinations, from their long continuance, I am unable to describe in detail, [was matter of distinct observation].
