As for instance: if someone is describing the future state of a person who is dying or has died, and in the course of doing this if the person is said to be like an angel and raised up among the angels and seeing magnificent things there, many like those in the world, all these things fall into the thought without objection, and also are believed if [the listener] had lived well. If, however, it is directly said that this is how things are, it is not believed.
5679. As, for instance: if anyone describes the site of the dying, or dead, then, if the state of the angels is ascribed to him, as, that he is raised up among the angels and beholds magnificent things there, many of them such as are in the world - then, if he have lived well, all things fall without delay into the intelligence, and also into faith. Should it be plainly said, however, that the thing is so, it is not believed.
5679. Ut si quis describit statum morientis seu mortui, tunc si ei adscribitur status angelorum et evehitur inter angelos, et [si] magnifica ibi intueatur, et plura qualia in mundo, tunc omnia cadunt absque remora in intellectum, et quoque in fidem si bene vixerat, si autem dicitur directe, quod ita sit, non creditur.
