5909. About the holy supper and about Luther's opinion on it
An inquiry was made as to whether any of the Roman Catholics or of Christians in general had thought about the body and blood of the Lord according to doctrinal tenets when they went to the holy supper, and all confessed that they had not thought about it but only about the holiness they received. The papists too were questioned and said the same thing, so they had not entertained this material idea when they had gone to the holy supper.
5909. THE HOLY SUPPER AND LUTHER IN RELATION TO IT.
Inquiry was made whether anyone from the Popish communion, or from a Christian people, when he partook of the Holy Supper, thought of the Lord's body and blood, according to the doctrinal; and all confessed that they did not, but only about the holiness which they are receiving. Papists also were questioned, and they said similarly, namely, that when they partake of the Sacrament of the Supper, they had not that material idea.
