True Christianity #315 (Rose, 2010)

315. In the heavenly meaning, "committing adultery" refers to denying the Word's holiness and desecrating the Word. This meaning follows from the spiritual meaning, which is contaminating the good things in the Word and falsifying its truths. People who in their heart laugh at everything having to do with the church and religion are people who deny the Word's holiness and desecrate the Word - in the Christian world every aspect of the church and religion comes from the Word.

True Christian Religion #315 (Chadwick, 1988)

315. In the celestial sense committing adultery means denying the holiness of the Word and profaning it. It follows from the spiritual sense given above, which is adulterating the good and falsifying the truth of the Word, that this is the meaning in the celestial sense. The holiness of the Word is denied and profaned by those who in their hearts ridicule everything connected with the church and religion; for in Christian countries everything of this sort is derived from the Word.

True Christian Religion #315 (Ager, 1970)

315. In the celestial sense, "to commit adultery" means to deny the holiness of the Word, and to profane it. This meaning follows from the preceding spiritual meaning, which is to adulterate its goods and to falsify its truths. The holiness of the Word is denied and profaned by those who in heart ridicule all things of the church and of religion, for in the Christian world all things of the church and of religion are from the Word.

True Christian Religion #315 (Dick, 1950)

315. In the celestial sense, to commit adultery means to deny the holiness of the Word, and to profane it. This meaning follows from the spiritual sense, which is to defile what is good in the Word and to falsify its truths. Those deny the holiness of the Word and profane it, who in their heart ridicule all things pertaining to the Church and religion; for in the Christian world all these things are derived from the Word.
