470. Verses 13-17. And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, These that are clothed in white robes, who are they, and whence came they? And I said unto him, Lord, thou knowest. And he said unto me, These are they who come out of great tribulation, and they did wash their robes, and make their robes white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sitteth on the throne shall dwell over them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters; and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.-
"And one of the elders answered, saying unto me," signifies influx out of heaven from the Lord, and thence perception; "These that are clothed in white robes, who are they, [and whence came they]?" signifies, concerning those who are now in truths, and in the protection of the Lord, of what quality they are and of what quality they have been. "And I said unto him, Lord, thou knowest," signifies that it is known to the Lord alone; "And he said unto me, These are they who come out of great tribulation," signifies information, that they are those who had been in temptations; "and they did wash their robes," signifies removal of falsities by means of temptations; "and make their robes white in the blood of the Lamb," signifies implantation of Divine Truth from the Lord. "Therefore are they before the throne of God," signifies, that consequently they are conjoined to the Lord; "and serve him day and night in his temple," signifies, that in heaven they are continually kept in truths; "and he who sitteth on the throne shall dwell over them," signifies influx of Divine good into truths with them. "They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more," signifies, that good and truth and happiness therefrom shall not fail them; "neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat," signifies, that in them there will be no evil and falsity springing from lusts. "For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall feed them," signifies, that the Lord will instruct them from heaven; "and shall lead them unto living fountains of water," signifies, in Divine truths; "and God shall wipe every tear from their eyes," signifies, their state of blessedness, from the affection of truth, after falsities have been removed by means of temptations.

"And one of the elders answered, saying to me," signifies influx out of heaven from the Lord, and perception therefrom n. 471; "These clothed with the white robes, who are they [and whence came they]?" signifies respecting those who are now in truths, and in the protection of the Lord, of what quality they are and of what they have been (n. 472).
14. "And I said unto him, Lord, thou knowest," signifies that the Lord alone knows this (n. 473). "And he said unto me, These are they who come out of the great tribulation," signifies information that these are they that have been in temptations n. 474; "and have washed their robes," signifies the removal of falsities by means of temptations (n. 475); "and have made their robes white in the blood of the Lamb," signifies the implantation of Divine truth from the Lord. n. 476).
15. "Therefore are they before the throne of God," signifies that for this reason they are conjoined to the Lord. n. 477); "and they serve Him day and night in His temple," signifies that they are constantly held in truths in heaven n. 478; "and He that sitteth on the throne shall dwell over them," signifies the influx of Divine good into truths with them (n. 479).
16. "They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore," signifies that good and truth shall not fail them, nor consequent felicity (n. 480); "neither shall the sun fall on them, nor any heat," signifies that evil and falsity from lusts shall not come to them n. 481.
17. "For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall feed them," signifies that the Lord will instruct them out of heaven n. 482; "and shall guide them unto living fountains of waters," signifies in Divine truths (n. 483); "and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes," signifies a state of blessedness from the affection of truth, after falsities have been removed by temptations n. 484.
470. VERSUS 13-17.
"Et respondit unus es senioribus, dicens mihi, Hi induti stolis albis, quinam sunt et unde venerunt? Et dixi illi, Domine, tu nosti: et dixit mihi, Hi sunt qui veniunt ex tribulatione magna, et laverunt stolas suas, et dealbaverunt stolas suas in sanguine Agni. Propter hoc sunt coram throno Dei, et serviunt Ipsi die et nocte in templo Ipsius, et Sedens super throno habitabit super illis. Non esurient amplius, neque sitient amplius, neque cadet super illas sol, neque ullus aestus. Quoniam Agnus, qui in medio throni, pascet eos, et deducet eos ad vivos fontes aquarum, et absterget Deus omnem lachrymam ab oculis illorum."
13. "Et respondit unus ex senioribus, dicens mihi", significat influxum e caelo a Domino, et inde perceptionem [n. 471] ; "Hi induti stolis albis, quinam sunt [et unde venerunt] ?" significat de illis qui nunc in veris sunt et in tutela Domini, quales sunt et quales fuerunt [n. 472] .
14. "Et dixi illi, Domine, tu nosti", significat quod solus Dominis id noverit [n. 473] ; "et dixit mihi, Hi sunt qui veniunt ex tribulatione magna", significat informationem, quod sint qui fuerunt in tentationibus [n. 474] ; "et laverunt stolas suas", significat remotionem falsorum per illas [n. 475] ; "et dealbaverunt stolas suas in sanguine Agni", significat implantationem Divini Veri a Domino [n. 476] .
15. "Propter hoc sunt coram throno Dei", significat quod inde sit quod conjuncti Domino [n. 477] ; "et serviunt Ipsi die et nocte in templo Ipsius", significat quod jugiter teneantur in veris in caelo [n. 478] ; "et Sedens super throno habitabit super illis", significat influxum Divini Boni in vera apud illos [n. 479] .
16. "Non esurient amplius, neque sitient amplius", significat quod illis non deficiet bonum et verum, et in de felicitas [n. 480] ; "neque cadet super illos sol neque ullus aestus", significat quod illis non erit malum et falsum ex concupiscentiis [n. 481] .
17. "Quoniam Agnus qui in medio throni pascet eos", significat quod Dominus e caelo instruet illos [n. 482] ; "et deducet eos ad vivos fontes aquarum", significat in Divinis veris [n. 483] ; "et absterget Deus omnem lachrymam ex oculis illorum", significat statum beatitudinis a veri affectione postquam falsa per tentationes remota sunt [n. 484] .
