309. When He opened the third seal. (6:5) This symbolizes an examination by the Lord of those people on whom the Last Judgment would fall, as to their states of life.
The symbolism of this is similar to the symbolism before in no. 295, with the difference described in what follows.
309. [verse 5] 'And when He had opened the third seal' signifies the examination by the Lord of those upon whom there will be the last judgment, as to the states of their life. By these [words] are signified things similar to those before (295), with a difference, about which [the exposition] follows.
309. Verse 5. And when He had opened the third seal, signifies exploration by the Lord of those upon whom the Last Judgment was to be executed, as to the states of their life. The same is here signified by these words as before, (295), only with the difference explained below.
