Apocalypse Revealed (Rogers translation 2007) 443

443. And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet. (9:14) This symbolizes a command by the Lord out of the spiritual heaven to those who were to examine and expose the state of life among those people who were not so wise.

A voice symbolizes a Divine command. The golden altar, or the altar upon which incense was burned, symbolizes the spiritual heaven (nos. 277, 392). The four horns of the altar symbolize its power (no. 270), here the power to release the four angels that were bound at the river Euphrates, as we are told next. The sixth angel having a trumpet symbolizes a directive to those on whom was enjoined the task of examining and disclosing these things (no. 442).

Apocalypse Revealed (Coulson translation 1970) 443

443. 'And I heard one voice out of the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, [verse 14] saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet' signifies a command from the Lord out of the spiritual heaven to those who would be examining and making manifest. By 'one voice is signified a Divine command; by 'the golden altar,' or the altar upon which they used to offer incense, is signified the spiritual heaven (277, 392); by 'the four horns' of that altar is signified the power thereof (270), here the power of releasing the four angels bound at the river Euphrates, as it follows on; by 'the sixth angel who had the trumpet' is signified to those on whom the duty of examining and making manifest these things had been imposed (442).

Apocalypse Revealed (Whitehead translation 1928) 443

443. And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God (verse 14), saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, signifies a command from the Lord out of the spiritual heaven to those who were to explore and make manifest. By "a voice" is signified a Divine command; by "the golden altar," or altar of incense, is signified the spiritual heaven, (277, 392); by "the four horns" of that altar is signified its power, (270); here, the power of loosing the four angels bound at the river Euphrates, as follows: by "the sixth angel" who had the trumpet, is signified to those to whom the office of exploring and making manifest these things was enjoined, (442).
