出埃及记33
1.耶和华晓谕摩西，去！从这里上去，你和你从埃及地所领上来的百姓到我起誓应许给亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的那地，我曾说，我要将这地赐给你的种。
2.我要差遣一位使者在你前面；我要撵出迦南人、亚摩利人、赫人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，
3.上到那流奶与蜜之地。我就不在你们中间上去，因为你们是硬着颈项的百姓，恐怕我在路上把你们灭绝。
4.百姓听见这凶信就悲哀，也没有人佩戴妆饰。
5.耶和华对摩西说，你对以色列人说，你们是硬着颈项的百姓，我若一霎时上到你们中间，必灭绝你们。现在你们要把妆饰从身上摘下来，使我可以知道对你们做什么。
6.以色列人在何烈山上把身上的妆饰剥下来。
7.摩西拿一个帐棚为自己支搭在营外，离营却远，他称这帐棚为会幕，于是，凡求问耶和华的，就到营外的会幕那里去。
8.于是，当摩西出去到会幕那里的时候，众百姓就都起来，各人站在自己帐棚门前，望着摩西，直等到他进了会幕。
9.于是，摩西进会幕的时候，云柱降下来，立在会幕的门口，与摩西交谈。
10.众百姓看见云柱立在会幕门口；众百姓就都起来，各人在自己帐棚的门口下拜。
11.耶和华与摩西面对面说话，好像人与邻舍说话一般。摩西回到营里，惟有他的助手，一个少年人嫩的儿子约书亚，不离开会幕中间。
12.摩西对耶和华说，看哪，你对我说，将这百姓领上去；却没有叫我知道你要打发谁与我同去。你曾说过，我按名认识你，你也在我眼中蒙恩。
13.我如今若在你眼中蒙恩，求你将你的道让我知道，求你使我可以认识你，因为我已经在你眼中蒙恩。求你想到这民族是你的人民。
14.祂说，我的脸必和你同去，使你得安息。
15.摩西对祂说，你的脸若不走在我前面，就不要把我们从这里领上去。
16.要在什么事上得以知道我和你的百姓在你眼中蒙恩呢？岂不是因你与我们同去，所以我和你的百姓才比地面上的所有人民都要尊贵？
17.耶和华对摩西说，你所说的这件事我也要行，因为你已在我眼中蒙恩，并且我按名认识你。
18.摩西说，求你使我看见你的荣耀。
19.祂说，我要使我的一切美善都在你面前经过，并要在你面前宣告耶和华的名；我要恩待谁，就恩待谁；要怜悯谁，就怜悯谁。
20.又说，你不能看见我的面，因为没有人看见我还可以存活。
21.耶和华说，看哪，我这里有个地方，你要站在磐石上。
22.我的荣耀经过的时候，我必将你放在磐石缝里，用我的手掌遮掩你，等我过去。
23.然后我要将我的手掌收回，你就得见我的背，却不得见我的面。

10523. THE CONTENTS. In this chapter in the internal sense the subject of the Israelitish nation is further continued; but here its quality in respect to worship, thus its quality in respect to those things which are of the church. From verses 1 to 6 there is contained: That although they could be in representatives, which are the external things of worship and of the church, still there was not with them anything Divine, because not anything internal. From verses 7 to 17: That in the worship itself, regarded in itself, thus separate from them, there could be what is Divine. From verses 18 to 23: That nevertheless this was not seen nor perceived by them.

The internal sense of this chapter takes the subject of the Israelite nation further; but now the essential nature of the worship among that nation, and so the things there which belong to the Church, is dealt with. Verses 1-6 show that even though the representative forms constituting the external things of worship and the Church could reside among them nothing Divine did so because there was nothing internal. Verses 7-17 show that what was Divine could reside within the actual worship regarded in isolation, thus separately from them. Verses 18-23 show that this was not however visible or perceptible to them.
