[NCE]1199. Genesis 10:15. And Canaan fathered Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth.
Canaan here as before symbolizes outward worship that has no inner content. Sidon symbolizes a superficial knowledge of spiritual attributes. Because this is the first knowledge acquired in the kind of outward worship being discussed here, Sidon is called Canaan's firstborn. Heth symbolizes a superficial knowledge of heavenly attributes.

Potts(1905-1910) 1199

1199. Verse 15. And Canaan begat Zidon, his firstborn, and Heth. "Canaan," here as before, signifies external worship in which there is nothing internal. "Zidon" signifies the exterior knowledges of spiritual things; and because they are the first things of such external worship, it is said that Zidon was "the firstborn of Canaan;" "Heth" signifies the exterior knowledges of celestial things.

Elliott(1983-1999) 1199

1199. Verse 15 And Canaan begot Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth.

Here, as previously, 'Canaan' means external worship that has nothing internal within it. 'Sidon' means the exterior cognitions of spiritual things, and because such cognitions are the primary things of such external worship Sidon is called Canaan's 'firstborn.' 'Heth' means the exterior cognitions of celestial things.

Latin(1748-1756) 1199

1199. Vers. 15. Et Canaan genuit Zidonem, primogenitum suum, et Hethum. 'Canaan' significat, hic ut prius, cultum externum in quo nihil internum est: 'Zidon' significat cognitiones exteriores spiritualium, quae quia sunt prima cultus talis externi, dicitur 'Zidon Canaanis primogenitus': 'Heth' significat cognitiones exteriores caelestium.
