So it was an exercise of the love that can be called a love of truth, because at the start of this church hardly any charity was left. Consequently not much faith — which comes only from charity — remained either. This follows logically from explanations just above about the city and tower of Babel and specifically the fact that Jehovah muddled the language of the whole earth (verse 9).{*2}
