[NCE]1731. He blessed him means enjoying heavenly and spiritual benefits. This can be seen from the symbolism of blessing as enjoying every possible benefit, discussed in 981, 1096. The people who enjoy every benefit are those who enjoy heavenly and spiritual good, because this produces every benefit of every description.
The ideas contained in the present verse announce and predict the union of the Lord's human side with his divine side. True blessing requires this union.

1731. He blessed him. That this signifies the enjoyment of celestial and spiritual things, may be seen from the signification of "blessing," as being to enjoy all goods (see n. 981, 1096). They are in the enjoyment of all goods who enjoy celestial and spiritual goods; for all goods, of whatever name, are from these. The things which are contained in this verse declare and proclaim the conjunction of the Lord's Human Essence with His Divine Essence the blessing itself involves this.
Elliott(1983-1999) 1731
1731. That 'he blessed him' means the enjoyment of celestial and spiritual things becomes clear from the meaning of 'blessing' as having the enjoyment of all goods, dealt with in 981, 1096. People who enjoy celestial and spiritual goods have the enjoyment of all goods, for it is from the celestial and spiritual that all goods of every description derive. The things contained in this verse announce and proclaim the conjunction of the Lord's Human Essence with His Divine Essence. The blessing itself implies it.
