733. Verses 7, 8. "And there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels. And they prevailed not, and their place was not found any more in heaven."
"And there was war in heaven" signifies combat of falsity against truth, and of truth against falsity; "Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels," signifies combat between those who are for a life of love and of charity and for the Divine of the Lord in His Human, and those who are for faith alone or faith separated from charity, and who are opposed to the Divine of the Lord in His Human. "And they prevailed not, and their place was not found any more in heaven," signifies that they were overcome, and that nowhere hereafter in the heavens will there be a place, corresponding to the state of their life, which is merely a state of thought, and not one of affection for good and truth.

7. "And there was war in heaven," signifies the combat of falsity against truth, and of truth against falsity n. 734; "Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels," signifies the combat between those who are for the life of love and charity and for the Divine of the Lord in His Human against those who are for faith alone or faith separate, and are against the Divine of the Lord in His Human n. 735.
8. "And they prevailed not, and their place was not found anymore in heaven," signifies that they were overcome, and that nowhere in the heavens henceforth is there a place that corresponds to the state of their life, which is a state of thought alone, and of no affection of good and truth (n. 736, 737).

"Et factum est bellum in caelo, Michael et angeli ejus pugnarunt cum dracone, et draco pugnavit et angeli ejus. Et non praevaluerunt, et non locus inventus eorum amplius in caelo."
7. "Et factum est bellum in caelo", significat pugnam falsi contra verum, ac veri contra falsum [n. 734] ; "Michael et angeli ejus pugnarunt cum dracone et draco pugnavit et angeli ejus", significat pugnam inter illos qui pro vita amoris et charitatis sunt, ac pro Divino Domini in Humano Ipsius, contra illos qui pro fide sola seu separata sunt, et qui contra Divinum Domini in Humano Ipsius sunt [n. 735] .
8. "Et non praevaluarunt, at non locus inventus amplius eorum in caelo", significat quod succubuerint, et quod nullibi in caelis posthac detur locus correspondens statui vitae eorum, qui est solius cogitationis, ac nullius affectionis boni et veri [n. 736, 737] .
