五十、每个人生命的快乐在死后都转变成相对应的事物



  485、前一章已经说过,每个人的主导情感或主导爱都会延续下去,直到永远。现在要说明的是,这种情感或爱的快乐是如何转变为相对应的事物的。“转变为相对应的事物”是指转变为与属世事物相对应的属灵事物。它们转变为属灵事物,可以从这一点被证实:只要人活在世上的身体中,他就在尘世,但是,一旦离开这身体,他就进入灵界,并穿上灵体。前面早已说明,天使和死后的人是完整的人,他们的身体是灵体(73-77453-460);还说明了属灵事物与属世事物的对应关系(87-115)。

485. After Death, the Pleasures of Everyone's Life Are Turned into Things That Correspond

I explained in the last chapter that our dominant affection or predominant love stays with us forever. Now, though, I need to explain that the pleasures of that affection or love change into things that correspond. "Changing into things that correspond" means changing into spiritual things that answer to the natural ones. We may gather that they change into spiritual things from the fact that as long as we are in our earthly bodies we are in the natural world; but once we leave that body behind, we arrive in the spiritual world and put on a spiritual body. (On angels having perfect human forms and being people after death, and on the bodies they wear being spiritual, see above, 73-77, 453-460; and for a description of the correspondence of spiritual things with natural ones, see 87-115)

485. THE DELIGHTS OF EVERYONE'S LIFE ARE CHANGED AFTER DEATH INTO THINGS THAT CORRESPOND TO THEM

It has been shown in the preceding section that the ruling affection or dominant love with everyone continues to eternity. It is now to be shown how the delights of that affection or love are changed into things that correspond. By being changed into corresponding things is meant into things spiritual that correspond to things natural. That they are changed into things spiritual can be confirmed from this, that so long as man is in his earthly body he is in the natural world, but when he leaves that body he comes into the spiritual world and puts on a spiritual body. That angels and men after death are in a complete human form, and that the bodies with which they are clothed are spiritual bodies see above, (73-77, 453-460); also what the correspondence is of spiritual things with natural (87-115).
