The Lord (Dole translation 2014) 10

10. In the broadest sense, “the law” means everything in the Word, as we can see from the following passages,

Jesus said, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”?’” (John 10:34, in reference to Psalms 82:6)

The crowd replied, “We have heard from the law that the Christ will abide forever.” (John 12:34, in reference to Psalms 89:29; 110:4; Daniel 7:14)

To fulfill the word written in their law: “They hated me for no reason.” (John 15:25, in reference to Psalms 35:19)

The Pharisees said, “Have any of the leaders believed in him? Only this crowd, that does not know the law.” (John 7:48-49)

It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for the tip of one letter of the law to fall. (Luke 16:17)

“The law” in these passages means the entire Sacred Scripture.

Doctrine of the Lord (Rogers translation 2014) 10

10. In the broadest sense the Law means the whole of the Word. This can be seen from the following passages:

Jesus (said), “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’”? (John 10:34)

This is written in Psalms 82:6.

The people answered..., “We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains to eternity....” (John 12:34)

This is written in Psalms 89:29, 110:4, Daniel 7:11, 14.

...that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their Law, “They hated Me without a cause.” (John 15:25)

This is written in Psalms 35:19.

(The Pharisees said,) “Have any of the rulers...believed in Him? But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed.” (John 7:48-49)

It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the Law to fall. (Luke 16:17)

The Law there means the entire Holy Scripture.

Doctrine of the Lord (Dick translation 1954) 10

10. 3. BY THE LAW, IN THE WIDEST SENSE, ARE MEANT ALL THINGS OF THE WORD. This may appear from the following passages:

Jesus said, Is it not written in your Law, I said, Ye are gods? John 10:34.

This is written in Psalm 82:6.

The multitude answered Him, We have heard out of the Law that Christ abideth for ever. John 12:34.

This is written in Psalm 89:29; 110:4; Daniel 7:14.

That the Word might be fulfilled that is written in their Law, They hated me without a cause. John 15:25.

This is written in Psalm 35:19.

The Pharisees said, Have any of the rulers ... believed on Him?

But this people who knoweth not the Law. John 7:48-49.

It is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the

Law to fail. Luke 16:17.

By the Law, in these passages, is meant the whole Sacred Scripture.

Doctrine of the Lord (Potts translation 1904) 10

10. That by "the Law," in the widest sense, are meant all things of the Word, is evident from these passages:

Jesus said, Is it not written in your Law, I said, Ye are gods? (John 10:34). (This is written in Psalm 82:6.)

The multitude answered Him, We have heard out of the Law, that the Christ abideth forever (John 12:34). (This is written in Psalm 89:29; 110:4; and in Daniel 7:11, 14.)

That the word might be fulfilled that is written in their Law, They hated Me without a cause (John 15:25) (This is written in Psalm 35:19.)

The Pharisees said, Have any of the rulers believed on Him? But this multitude that knoweth not the Law are cursed (John 7:48, 49).

It is easier for heaven and earth to pass than for one tittle of the Law to fall (Luke 16:17). (Here "the Law" means all Holy Scripture.)

Doctrina Novae Hierosolymae de Domino 10 (original Latin 1763)

10. (iii.) Quod omnia Verbi per "Legem" in latissimo sensu intelligantur, constare potest ex his locis:-

Jesus dixit, "Nonne scriptum est in Lege vestra, Ego dixi, Dii estis?" (Johannem 10:34;)

Hoc scriptum est, Psalm 82:6. 1

"Respondit... turba, Nos audivimus ex Lege quod Christus maneat in aeternum" (Johannem 12:34);

Hoc scriptum est, Psalm 89:30 (B.A. 29); Psalm 110:14 [NSBSP: 4]; Danielem 7:14.

"Ut impleretur verbum scriptum in Lege illorum, Odio habuerunt Me sine causa" (Johannem 15:25);
