1165. But our Lord alone knows what is true and good, what will come to pass, everywhere, thus all and the very least details at the same time. So unless we leave our plans to the Lord's Providence, how greatly mistaken we can be!-especially if we are trying to do good on our own. 1748, 4 March.
1165. The truth is that our Lord alone knows what is true and good, what is to come, and what is everywhere, thus all things and each single thing together. Wherefore unless man leaves his counsels to the Lord's providence he can very often be deceived, especially if he wants to do what is good from himself.
1165. Verum, Dominus noster solum novit quid verum et bonum, quid venturum, quid ubivis, sic omnia et singula simul, quare nisi homo relinquat sua consilia Providentiae Domini, tunc quamplurimum falli potest, cumprimis si quid bonum ex semet facere vult. 1748, 4 Martius.
