1268. The spirits who relate to the mucus of the nostrils are those who, once they have contracted hatred for another, most stubbornly try to get revenge, refusing to be reasoned with. So they are those in whom reason finds no argument to dispel the hatred, once it has been conceived-a hatred that pants for nothing but the death of the other. For then such people harbor and keep turning over nothing else in their minds. They are that sticky mucus of the nostrils.
1268. Those who relate to the mucus of the nostrils are they who tenaciously desire revenge when they have once acquired a hatred of anyone, so that they do not admit of any reason. These are they with whom reason finds no possibility of dissipating hatred when once acquired, a hatred which breathes nothing but the death of another, for they then keep in mind [animus] and ponder nothing else. These constitute that viscous mucus of the nostrils.

Qui mucum narium referunt, sunt ii, qui tenacissime cupiunt vindicare, ex odio semel capto, sic ut nullam rationem admittat, seu apud quos nulla ratio invenit locum dissipandi semel captum odium, quod spirat non nisi quam mortem alterius, nam tunc nihil aliud in animo gerunt et volvunt; ii sunt viscosus iste mucus narium.
