Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 1395

1395.

Many levels of meaning can shape one idea, thus one word or sign, and then be understood together. This is especially apparent from spiritual speech, in which those many levels of meaning shape just one seemingly single and instantaneous mental image, like what has just been said, and what is now being said, about words and meaning, each of which make up just one idea when we are speaking with spirits. So also in other cases. A like idea exists also with people on earth, for when one has read these words, one grasps them in a single mental image. So in other cases. 1748, 15 March.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 1395

1395. That many senses can form one idea, thus one word or sign, and so be understood together, is especially evident from spiritual speech in which many such senses form, as it were, one simple and instantaneous idea. For example, the things said just above, and also what is said here concerning words and their meaning, form only one idea when we speak with spirits; so in other cases. Such an idea is also given with men, for when one has read these things he grasps them under one idea. Likewise in other cases. 1748, Mar. 15.

; sic in caeteris, talis idea penes homines quoque datur, nam dum legerit ista, capit ea sub una idea; sic in caeteris. 1748, 15 Martius.
