1405. About conviction and spiritual inner sight
Just as those who are led by the Lord see inwardly what must be done, and this in a way not understandable to others, so also they are convinced what must be known, also in a spiritual manner, and also in a way not understandable to others. Therefore, if they come up against something seemingly very true, so that there is scarcely anything to contradict it, but everything to support it, nevertheless they are not convinced before there is spiritual conviction, which is a quality of faith. 1748, 15 March.
1405. CONCERNING SPIRITUAL PERSUASION AND PERCEPTION
As those who are led by the Lord perceive what they ought to do, and this in a manner not intelligible to others, so too are they persuaded what they ought to know, and this also in a spiritual manner unintelligible to others. Therefore if they meet with something closely resembling the truth, so that there is scarcely anything contradictory, but all things are affirmatory, they are still not persuaded until there is a spiritual persuasion, which is that of faith. 1748, Mar. 15.
1748, 15 Martius.
