Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 1487

1487. How spiritual mental imagery serves to uncover the intentions of others

Because the mental imagery of spirits, especially of good spirits (not to mention, of angels), is very complete, and they perceive what is in the intention of a person or a soul, therefore, whenever those mental images are granted by the Lord to a spirit, he is able to find out what their intentions are, and more that cannot as yet be described. But this knowledge he has from the Lord, when he is looking to what is true. 1748, 18 March. If they imagine that they have this of their own power, then they take hold of falsities instead of truths.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 1487

1487. HOW SPIRITUAL IDEAS [SERVE] IN DISCLOSING THE MIND [animus] OF OTHERS

Because the ideas of spirits, especially of good spirits (not to mention angels) are very full, and they perceive those things in a man or soul which pertain to his "animus," therefore, when such ideas are granted by the Lord to a spirit, he can know the quality of another's "animus", and many things which cannot as yet be described. But this is from the Lord when the spirit regards those things that are true. 1748, Mar. 18. If spirits suppose they have this from themselves, they then seize upon falses as truths.

Experientiae Spirituales 1487 (original Latin 1748-1764)

1487. Quomodo spirituales ideae [inserviunt] in detegendis aliorum animis

1748, 18 Martius. Si a semet putant id habere, tunc falsa arripiunt, pro veris.
