Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 1893

1893. Or, for example, that only faith in the Lord saves, that the Lord governs the universe and every least thing of the universe, that the Lord is the All in everything, and other points besides which are very general, and embrace within them countless particulars. Those general concepts in a person on earth are nothing compared to a higher knowledge of them. Likewise, what we call hell, or heaven, is each a most general concept, and amounts to almost nothing compared with the realities those concepts embrace within them.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 1893

1893. In like manner that faith alone in the Lord saves, - that the Lord rules the universe, and the most singular things of the universe, - that the Lord is all in all, - besides other things which are most general and comprehend indefinite particulars within them. Those most general things in man are as nothing compared with the knowledge of their particulars; so also that which is called hell and that which is called heaven is most widely general, and as it were nothing compared with what they severally comprehend.
