Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 1925

1925. I was surprised also that when I had no understanding of certain matters, or was paying no attention, I then sensed that the angels had a more perfect one. From this it is also clear that the angels receive a still more perfect understanding from little children who do not understand what they are praying.

This may seem surprising to anyone, and yet it is very true, and borne out to me by actual, plain, and quite a lot of experience. 1748, 10 May.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 1925

1925. I have wondered also that while I had no understanding of certain things, or paid them no attention, I still perceived that the angels had a [proportionably] fuller sense of them, which may appear from the fact that the angels have a clearer perception in the case of infants, who do not understand what they pray for. This will no doubt appear wonderful to most men, but it is most true, having been testified to me through a living, manifest, and sufficiently long-continued experience. - 1748, May 10.

Experientiae Spirituales 1925 (original Latin 1748-1764)

1748, 10 Maj.
