2375. And besides this, those also elevate themselves on high who in bodily life had thought highly of themselves, and had humbled themselves for the sake of their own honor and glory in the eyes of the world, making a show of humility in their outward appearance, yet striving for the highest honors just for honor's sake, or love of themselves-professing humility with the mouth, but having their heart set on highness. They are also hypocrites.
2375. And those, moreover, do also elevate themselves on high, who in the life of the body had a lofty mind [animus] and humbled themselves for the sake of honor for themselves, glory and the world, and had shown themselves humble in external countenance, and yet sought after the biggest [summus] honors with honor and self-love for their end; although with the mouth they confessed humility, yet in the heart they had loftiness; who also are hypocrites.
2375. Et praeterea alte etiam se elevant ii, qui in vita corporis fuerunt animo alto, seque humiliarunt, sui honoris, gloriae, et mundi causa, seque in externo vultu ostenderint humiles, et tamen affectaverint summos honores, propter finem honoris seu amoris sui, tametsi ore fassi humilitatem, usque corde habuerint altitudinem; qui quoque sunt hypocritae.
