3094. The faculty of understanding is the Lord's
A certain spirit was wishing to practice cunning ways on me. Because he was evil, someone asked why I speak with the evil in this way. I was inspired to reply that because he has the faculty of understanding, I speak with him, thus with his faculty of understanding, consequently with the Lord. Thereupon he withdrew, indignant. Hence I was instructed that the faculty of understanding with earthly humans and spirits is the Lord's. 1748, 7 Sept.
3094. THAT THE FACULTY OF UNDERSTANDING [intelligendi] IS OF THE LORD.
[There was] a certain spirit with me, [who] wished to practice craftiness. Inasmuch as he was evil, a certain one inquired why do I thus speak with the evil. It was granted to reply, that because he possesses the faculty of understanding [quod quia, facultas ei intelligendi], I speak with him, thus with his faculty of understanding, consequently with the Lord, whereat he being indignant withdrew. Hence I was instructed that the faculty of understanding [belonging to] men and spirits, is of the Lord. - 1748, September 7.

Quidam spiritus apud me astutias exercere volens, qui quia malus, interrogabat quis cur ita cum malis loquar, respondere dabatur, quod quia facultas ei intelligendi, cum eo loquar, ita cum facultate ejus intelligendi, proinde cum Domino, quod is indignatus recessit; inde instructus quod facultas hominum et spirituum intelligendi sit Domini. 1748, 7 Sept.
