Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 3234

3234. This all leads to the conclusion that spirits retain whatever they hear much more readily than people on earth, although they are not aware they are retaining them, for thus is the inward memory formed, the person not knowing. And the purer the angels are, the more readily and completely do they retain them, so that no mental image passes away. This is evident from those who judge so promptly about all and the least things, which cannot be done unless they retain them. 1748, 21 Sept.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 3234

3234. (From these things it may be concluded, that whatever spirits hear they retain much more readily than men, although they do not know they retain these things; for thus is formed the interior memory. Man being ignorant [thereof], and the purer the angels, the more readily and fully they retain, so that no idea may perish. It is evident from those who so readily decide concerning each and all things, this cannot happen unless they retain. - 1748, September 21.

Experientiae Spirituales 3234 (original Latin 1748-1764)

1748, 21 Sept.
