3407. Continually, while he was speaking, he called on the devil, so that with opened mouth he cried out nothing but diabolic utterances, perhaps for the reason that those who constantly call upon the devil and think he can do everything attract those spirits. For thus he calls forth many, for such utterances inhere in the fantasy of many, thus throngs are raised up, into whose fantasies he enters and then draws toward himself - so he can [call forth] throngs.
3407. When he awoke he continually called the devil, so that he cried out nothing but diabolic things, while present with me [apud me], perhaps because they [are those] who continually call the devil, and think they can effect everything; these he attracts, for thus he calls forth many, because such things inhere in the phantasy of many; thus cohorts are excited into whose phantasies he enters, and so attracts them; thus he can [attract] cohorts.
3407. Jugiter, dum loquebatur, diabolum vocabat, sic ut non nisi quam diabolica aperto ore clamaret, forte ex causa, quod ii qui jugiter vocant diabolum, et eum posse omnia putant, eos attrahat, sic enim plures evocat, quia talia in phantasia plurium haerent, ita excitantur cohortes, in quarum phantasias intrat, et sic attrahit: ita potest cohortes.
