Footnotes:
1. As there is no propagation of offspring in the other life, it is to be borne in mind that the scenes here portrayed were really transacted in the natural world, but under the instigation of spirits such as those whom Swedenborg here describes. While abiding in the body they were acted upon by spirits of a similar love and life to their own, and when they enter the world of spirits they are immediately associated with their like, and the traits which are there developed show clearly what they had been during their lives on earth. The same remark applies to a multitude of the revelations contained in these pages. -Tr.
