Progressions from one place to another that are not the products of fantasy symbolize changes of societies, for all societies have their own location, so that every change of location comes from a change of society. I observed this to be true in general, and consequently in particular also, so that not the least step is taken that is not produced by a change of society.
3941. THAT CERTAIN REPRESENTATIONS AND MANY THINGS [BESIDES] ARE VARIATIONS OF SOCIETIES.
Progressions from one place to another, which do not exist from phantasy, signify changes of societies, for all societies have their own situation, wherefore every change of situation proceeds from a change of society. It was observed that this is true, both in general and in particular; wherefore the like holds of changes of places, so that there is not the least step which does not exist from a change of society.
3941. Quod repraesentationes quaedam et plura sint variationes societatum
Progressiones ab uno loco in alterum, quae non ex phantasia existunt, significant mutationes societatum, nam omnes societates suum situm habent, quare omnis mutatio situs venit a mutatione societatis, in genere hoc verum esse observatum, ita in particulari, quare locorum mutationes similiter se habent, sic ut non sit minimus passus, qui non existat a mutatione societatis.
