5454. After this I heard that they did not bother with religion and [think] scarcely other than that if there is a God, there is. If asked where God is, they said that God is in heaven. If asked whether God has created all things, they cannot conceive it, because they think He would be walking about everywhere and putting things together. In a word, they are completely empty-headed, and do not bother about truths, beyond such.
5454. Audivi postea, quod non curent religionem, et vix aliud quam si Deus sit quod sit, si quaeritur ubinam Deus, quod Deus sit in coelo; si interrogantur num creaverit omnia, non capiunt, quia sic putant ambulaturum quaquaversum et conditurum, verbo prorsus inanes sunt, nec curant vera, quam talia.
