Spiritual Experiences (Odhner and Nemitz translation 1998) 5621

5621. From this is evident that the Word is Divine in its details not only as to the words but also as to the characters or letters. And from this is known what is meant [by the statement] that not the least point or least little horn should perish [Matt 5:18, Luke 16:17], why the Jews had been moved to number the individual letters, and that they have believed there are mysteries in the individual letters as well, although they have not known how.

Spiritual Experiences (Buss translation 1902) 5621

5621. It is hence evident, that the Word is Divine in all its details, not only in the words, but also in the syllables and letters; and hence may be known what that signifies, that not the least apex or the least little horn 1should perish, and why the Jews have been impelled to number the separate letters, ++ 2and that they have believed mysteries to be in even every least constituent of a letter, ++ 2although they have not been aware in what way.

Footnotes:

1. I.e. "jot and tittle," - see Matthew 5:18.

2. ++ It may be worth while to mention that all the points in the text marked "++" [with one symbol on top of the other], are matters of natural fact, well-known to all students of the Hebrew language and Scriptures. -ED.

Experientiae Spirituales 5621 (original Latin 1748-1764)

5621. Inde patet quod Verbum in singulis non modo vocibus, sed etiam syllabis seu literis Divinum sit; et inde scitur quid significat quod non minimus apex et minimum corniculum periturum [Matth. V: 18, Luc. XVI: 17]: et cur Judaei adacti fuerint numerare singulas literas; et quod arcana crediderint esse in singulis etiam literis, tametsi nesciverunt quomodo.
