216. (Verse 11) Behold, I come quickly. That this signifies that this is certain is evident from the signification of quickly, as denoting what is certain and full (concerning which see above, n. 7). The reason why quickly signifies certain and full is, that time, and all things pertaining to time, in the Word, signify states, and therefore quickly and speedily signify a state of affection, and thence of thought, which is present, consequently certain and full. (That time, and all things pertaining to time, correspond to states, and therefore signify them, may be seen in the work, Heaven and Hell 162-169; and that quickly signifies what is excited from affection, thus what is present and certain, may be seen in Arcana Coelestia 7695, 7866.)
216. Verse 11. Behold, I come quickly, signifies that this is certain. This is evident from the signification of "quickly," as being certainty and fullness (See above, n. 7). "Quickly" signifies certainty and fullness, because time and all things pertaining to time in the Word signify states; therefore "quickly" and "speedily" signify a present state of affection and of thought therefrom, consequently certainty and fullness. (That time and all things of time correspond to states, and therefore signify states, see in the work on Heaven and Hell 162-169; and that "quickly" signifies what is stirred up by affection, thus what is present and certain, see Arcana Coelestia 7695, 7866)
216. (Vers. 11.) "Ecce venio cito."
