[NCE]1592. The symbolism of Lot chose for himself all the plain of the Jordan as the outer self and its character is established by the symbolism of the plain of the Jordan as the outer self (discussed at the last verse [搂1585]).
The beauty of the outer self when united with the inner self is depicted in the previous verse, but its ugliness when disconnected is depicted in this verse and the next two.

Potts(1905-1910) 1592

1592. Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan. That this signifies the external man, and that it was such, is evident from the signification of "the plain of Jordan," explained in the preceding verse, which is the external man. In the preceding verse is described the beauty of the external man when it is conjoined with the internal, but its deformity when disjoined is described in this and the two following verses.

Elliott(1983-1999) 1592

1592. That 'Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan' means that the external man was such is clear from the meaning of 'the plain of Jordan' as the external man, dealt with in the previous verse. The previous verse describes the beauty of the external man when joined to the internal, but this verse and the two that follow describe the ugliness of it when separated.
