[NCE]1593. The symbolism of and Lot set out from the east as those traits in the outer self that withdraw from heavenly love can be seen from the symbolism of the east as the Lord and so as every heavenly quality (discussed earlier, at 搂101). Since the east symbolizes the Lord, it follows that the east here means his inner self, which was divine. So Lot's setting out from the east here symbolizes the fact that his outer self withdrew from his inner.

Potts(1905-1910) 1593

1593. And Lot journeyed from the east. That this signifies those things in the external man that recede from celestial love, is evident from the signification of "the east," as being the Lord, and thus all that is celestial (concerning which above, n. 101); and as the Lord is signified by the east, it follows that "the east" here is the Lord's internal man, which was Divine. Thus that the external man receded from the internal, is here signified by "Lot journeyed from the east."

Elliott(1983-1999) 1593

1593. 'And Lot travelled from the east' means those things residing with the external man which depart from celestial love. This is clear from the meaning of 'the east' as the Lord, and so as everything celestial, dealt with already in 101. And because the east means the Lord 'the east' here is consequently the Lord's Internal Man, which is Divine. Thus it is the departure of the external man from the internal that is meant here by the words 'Lot travelled from the east'.
